My Baby and I

Taken a week ago during an at home family photo shoot with our baby Blitz. Can you tell he doesn’t like being on camera?

This is my fur baby, Blitz. He is a handsome 9 year old, pure bred, Doberman Pinscher. Blitz has been with me since I was in grade 10, and he has been my little baby ever since. Not a day goes by where he doesn’t come smiling and wagging his little stub of a tail to greet me at the end of my work day as I enter the front door. This guy lives for food! While he is fast asleep, and most times snoring, all you need to do is place your hand on the refrigerator handle and he will be up and beside you, waiting for you to decide if your giving him a treat or waiting for you to drop something so he can quickly gobble it up.

Blitz is a true family member and our protector. He knows who he can get away with things and who he has to listen to, no questions asked. God forbid a squirrel is lurking on our fence, Blitz the protector will be there right away defending the yard. As a Doberman, he is most protective of his territory; our home. When my little nephew was about to enter our lives, Blitz knew right away and assumed his big brother role. First night with the baby in the house Blitz stood by the stairs, worried that he was crying and waiting to make sure someone knew. Once the little one started crawling, Blitz followed him around when he thought everyone was occupied, making sure the little one was safe.

My baby is a very strong boy. Throughout his 9 years he has had many issues in regards to his health but he has always overcome them. Unfortunately, a couple weeks ago Blitz was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, an irreversible heart muscle disorder. The prognosis is not good but my baby is a fighter and is doing much better than was initially expected by the doctor. My mind has recently been occupied with everything going on which has ultimately led to delays in some book related posts. Now that Blitz is doing better, I am a bit more at ease and will be back to posting soon. I’ve got tons of books I’d like to highlight and recommend you all read!

As always, if you have any book recommendations or would like to chat about books, send me a message!
